Eating Organic Is It Worth The Investment

With price of food soaring and family budgets strained to the limit, should you make the investment in selecting organic foods at the supermarket? Is the short term expense worth the longer term benefits? Let me share my thoughts with you.
If money was not an issue, would you eat organic? Interesting enough, most people I asked this question responded they would. Many acknowledged the fact that it is better for you to eat foods free of pesticides, chemicals, antibiotics, or hormones. It is reasonable to make the assumption that the growth of the organic movement may be dependable of the wealth of people. We all should have the pleasure and opportunity to enjoy organic foods no matter our status in life. Unfortunately, it not realistic to think this way, at least for now.
People with financial burdens have to make sensible decisions and, understandably, eating organic would not be a priority. But for those who have sufficient income, eating organic should be a priority in their life and not just for their health. If that sounds like a pretty strong statement; let me explain my reasoning behind it.
Most people are aware of the health benefits of eating organic. We are well aware that we have to make changes to our lifestyle in order to assure the next generation for a bright future. We have to protect our environment, but we also have the duty to preserve the health of America, in all aspects.
If, as a nation, we strive toward the development of organic farms, not only our environment and our food chain would be affected positively, so would be our work force. Rural villages that have seen their factories going over-seas could flourish again with the sustainable economic activity of organic farming. Each of us possess the power to make a difference, and to that power to benefit the less fortunate and the nation overall. I am sure we all could survive with smaller televisions, less expensive and more fuel efficient cars, buying clothes that last for more than a season, and spending that extra money on organic food.
Here are some organic buying tips that are economically prudent while also more healthful for your family, no matter what your budget:
Buy organic dry products and organic canned foods. They are not much more expensive and you will send a powerful message to the food industry.
Reduce your individual portion.Particularly with milk and meat products you can stretch your dollars while you shrink your waistline.
Support your local farmers and growers. The more distance the food travels from farm to table, the greater the cost.
Join a food co-op. Co-ops purchase food in bulk and often carry organic items. If there isn't one in your town, start one.
Share your knowledge. If you have discovered healthy organic foods from a good supplier, pass the news on via an email to your friends. They will appreciate it immensely.
Bottom line:
You can help save the earth, one meal at a time.
Choose organic and support a sustainable America.
